Dress like the future YOU
People have often asked me, “how do you look so put together everyday, make up etc”? And, “I just don't have the time to even think about accessories”
My answer has always been the same. Because it's non negotiable. My make up will be done, even if minimal, my outfit will be elevated, even if not everyone could notice. I notice, I feel it, it gives me confidence.
Wearing what you want is a luxury, and by that I mean, the woman that wears whatever she wants in the morning, not a uniform, is probably pretty successful, with her own business maybe. She can wear what she likes because she is the boss. She feels powerful, she looks it too. IT IS TIME FOR EVERYONE TO DRESS LIKE THAT WOMAN, that woman is you. The future you.
Your vision of a successful woman, might be a Mum of 5 running her household like a boss, cooking, creating an amazing life for her family. She might also be a yoga teacher that travels around the world in all the latest Lululemon looks. Maybe a Youtuber who goes to fashion shows and travels the world shopping in the most amazing designer stores (My vision!)
Whatever your vision is, dress like you are already there.
It is actually easier than you think, it doesn't have to cost the earth either. Simple small changes to your outfits can make a huge difference.
Now as everyone's successful outfits will be different, I will give you a list of my non negotiables for dressing for success:
Getting a good spray tan. Does Not have to be dark, a slight colour will be like make up for the body and make you feel amazing. And means we are protecting our skin, so the future you will thank you with a young plump skin
Good make up. Simple make up routine which I can do with my eyes closed.
I have invested in good, classic items that I know look good. I can grab a few items from my wardrobe and because I have thought about what I buy, I know it pairs well together without thinking.
Even on days when I am due on and want to be super comfy, I wear my gym clothes (matching and well looked after) and I add a over sized blazer on top, and add some fresh white trainers.
If I want to throw on jeans, I add a matching belt to the shoes with the bag. It's an old fashion concept (the matching) but a really good classic one that I think will always look put together. I don't really follow fashion trends. The future me would cringe at that at Paris fashion week.
Sometimes I dress in cashmere for just hanging around the house, because future me would not lounge in anything less!!
By dressing like the woman we want to be, we are inadvertently manifesting the woman we will be. Showing up as her everyday means we will do the things she would do, take the opportunities that come her way.
I challenge you
Tonight before you go to bed, choose that power outfit. Get it ready so in the morning you put it on without thinking. Tomorrow could be your day one. Tell me how you felt in that outfit and how it changed your confidence, and then your day.
